Background of Barura Upazila

There is enough evidence to prove that the southern part of Chandina Thana was transformed into a separate Thana. There are only 144 Raja Zamindars in the Tripura region for a long period of 1800 years till 1947. Among them is the reign of 26 kings in the capital of Barakamata (Chandina). Each of the kings and queens was a Buddhist. The religious title of the Buddhists was Barua. Among them, the king of the Kharag dynasty, Rajbhatta (525-625), during his reign of two hundred years, gave religious importance to the example of social service by patronizing four thousand Buddhist monks and bearing all their expenses.

Second, the leaders discussed in detail the cultural heritage of the region and saw that betel is being cultivated in most places in the region (which still exists). Those who cultivate betel are called bari and the land cultivated with betel is called the bar in the regional language. The leaders decided to name the new police station after a combination of religious influence and cultural heritage.
